FSU's Female led IAM team makes leaps in identity consolidation
At Florida State University we have a talented staff of women in IAM. Led by Lori Gormin, our IAM team consists of Diane Higgins as an IAM Specialist and Kelly Lanier, IAM Specialist.
We are excited to share that we are currently engaged in a major project to consolidate our O365 environment for students and employees. Andrea Dial is leading the charge as our Project Manager in collaboration with Julie Eberhardt and Maria Whitaker.
The IAM team in the planning phase and the focus is performing an impact analysis on enterprise and department systems, applications, and processes. Production work is slated to start in October. In our first phase we will start provisioning our new Admitted Applicants into the consolidated environment, then in December we will convert our existing students.
The project as one might guess is complex. Changing email addresses for more than 60,000 students has a large impact on over 100 third party applications which do account matching on email. This includes changing emails in database views for applications, updating single sign-on services and coordinating with vendors to provide crosswalk files.
But email is not the only challenge. One Drive content and emails must also be migrated. Lori Gormin wears two hats here. Not only is she leading the IAM team, but she also leads the Collaboration Services team which will be handling the migrations.
This huge technical project also requires managing this change for the impacted students and alumni. The Organizational Change Management team and Communications team create notification emails for our students, develop Frequently Asked Questions, portal notices and job aids. We are supported by several women on these teams, including Kathleen Reilly and Megan Del Debbio leading the charge.
