FAQs
What is IAM-HER?
IAM-HER is a community of women and their allies who work in Identity and Access Management in Higher Education and Research.
How is IAM-HER different from the Women In Identity organization?
IAM-HER is like a sub-group, or special interest group of the larger Women In Identity organization. IAM-HER is a community of women (and their allies) who work in Identity and Access Management in the Higher Education and Research sector. This industry vertical has some pretty big differences from commercial IAM, and there are also lots of women in the field. We see each other at Higher Ed and Research conferences, and formed this group to have a community for sharing experiences, providing support, and building visibility.
What are the goals of IAM-HER?
The primary goals of IAM-HER are to provide a supportive community for women who work in Identity and Access Management in Higher Education and Research. We aim to share experiences with each other, to learn from each other, and to support each other as we grow our careers in this field. We also use the IAM-HER community to raise awareness of our contributions and to be more visible in the impact we have at our organizations and in the field at large.
How do I join?
There is no formal membership for IAM-HER, as it is not a legally incorporated organization. To join the community, you can sign up for the mailing list on this website, attend in-person and online events, contribute a blog post to the website, help organize an activity for the community, help amplify social media posts for other members, or any other avenue you choose to engage.
Do I have to be a woman to join?
IAM-HER welcomes allies who do not identify as women, but support the goals of the IAM-HER community.
